1. Han Solo – Star Wars was one of the first films I ever remember seeing and The Empire Strikes Back is possibly the first film I saw at the cinema. When I was so young these films and their characters were completely real to me. Harrison Ford did not exist, all I knew was Han Solo and all I wanted to be, in my childish world, was his Princess Leia. Possibly the only time I’ve wanted to be a Princess in my entire life.
2. Morten Harket – Back in 1985 a-ha rocked my tweenage world. The only boys I liked were Jamie and Andrew in class 1B at school. Sadly Jamie and Andrew were far too popular to notice little redheaded shy girl me, well for the right reasons anyway. Morten seemed like a far more realistic prospect to my pre-pubescent self. All floppy hair and sad eyes was he. I obviously loathed his then girlfriend Bunty Bailey and imagined it was he and I an the video for ‘Take on me’. Sigh.
3. Jason Bateman – Do you remember ‘It’s your move’? ‘Twas a doomed to fail American teen sitcom from around 1984. That’s when I first clapped eyes on Mr Bateman. A perfect 14 year old package of American loveliness. He had a cheeky grin and a glint in his teenage eyes and liked it! When Teen Wolf hit the UK cinemas I was there with bells on.
4. Patrick Swayze – That moment in Dirty Dancing. You know the one. Where he’s looking down at her during ‘that’ dance. Oh my! Enough said.
5. Christian Slater – For me, it was his voice that had the swoon factor. There was just something about his deep American tones that made this little British girl tingle. That and the fact that he was brilliant in Heathers.
Ahhhh, the 80′s. Gotta love ‘em!
So go on, admit it, who were your first crushes?

Since I started writing this post yesterday I have since heard the tragic news that Patrick Swayze has sadly lost his battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 57. Rest in peace Mr Swayze.

I don't whether I should confess to this but had a big thing about Shakin Stevens(!). Would not believe my father when he said that Shaky was older than him.
I also loved Patrick Swayze and can still to this day recite most of Dirty Dancing!!
BNM
We have the same taste in men
Harrison Ford totally with you there, I wantedto marry Han Solo and bizzarely my husband does look a little like him…
Jason Bateman!!! Totally agreed, it's made ne so happy to see him popping up in films in the last 5 years. It looks like his career has really taken off again deservedly.
RIP Patrick Swayze such a sad end to such a talented man, thoughts to his family and friends
Am planning on a memorial viewing of Dirty Dancing this evening – there was something utterly perfect about Patrick Swayze
Mr. S in Dirty Dancing, did it for me.
I also really liked Edwin Collins from Orange Juice in the early days, used to follow them everywhere.
As for the rest, I'll have to put more thought into it.

I am so with you on the Patrick Swayze choice, he was lovely. When I was 13 me and my friend took the bus to see Dirty Dancing at the cinema twice because we liked it so much! Very sad today to hear he's lost his battle.
I also had a huge poster on my wall of Michael Praed, he was Robin of Sherwood on TV and I thought I would marry him!
It would seem that we shared many a crush! Agree with Charlotte about Michael Praed. I also fancied Jonathan Ross back in the day. I think I'd best leave it there!
Gosh, Michael Praed, forgot about him. He was delish too (I now have Clannad music swimming round my head….gah!)
I was looking through pictures of all these lovely menfolk and realised that, even though I didn't realise it, I do have a definite 'type'.
Seems my husband fits the bill quite nicely….phew!
That is so weird, my lovely fiance has the same general Michael Praed features – dark thick hair, lovely smile, looks better with longer hair etc – although they don't all work together as well as Michael's! Perhaps this is why Michael is the famous actor and lovely fiance is not.
