These days, with two young children ruling the roost, it’s not often I get the time to watch anything on TV other than Cbeebies, on a loop.
So, when the Prince and Princess of Mayhem are nicely tucked up in bed, I get comfy on the sofa, grab myself a Diet Coke and take the opportunity to watch a little bit of escapism on my spangly telly box.
It may not have escaped your attention that my latest TV guilty pleasure of choice is none other than Glee.
I’m a Gleek. Totally.
When I was offered the opportunity to review the new Glee DVD (Season 1 Volume – Road to Sectionals) there was no way I was going to refuse. Glee, on DVD, to watch whenever I wanted? You betcha!
If you’ve missed the phenomenon that is Glee (and if you have you must’ve been living under rather a large rock) you really are missing out. Set in William McKinley High School, it follows the fortunes of the somewhat dysfunctional members of the school Glee Club and the teachers who often have more issues than the students themselves.
It’s a fresh, quirky and infectious mixture of silliness, fun and drama with showstopping musical numbers thrown in for good measure. Often tongue in cheek and sometimes cringe inducingly close to the bone, every episode is a winner and leaves you wanting more, more, MORE!
From the pitch perfect voice of Rachel Berry (Lea Michele), the idealistic teacher with a bunny boiling wife, Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison), to the hilarious and deranged cheer leading coach Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch), and the fabulously flamboyant & incredibly quick witted Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer), the cast if filled with someone for everyone to both love and hate.
If you want to join the expanding band of Gleeks, or just fancy owning every single episode of this upliftingly infectious show for yourself, the DVD is out now! Available to buy online for the bargain price of just £16.99 from Play.com.
In the words of Sue Sylvester it is outstanding.
Now, what are you hanging around her for? Go and grab a copy!
P.S If you’d like to get your hands on a free copy stay tuned for a little competition here in the near future….

I am a little ashamed to admit it, as it spoils my super masculine image, but I’m a closet Gleek too. Although I get so incensed by the behavior of Sue Sylvester that I’m not entirely sure it’s good for my blood pressure

I’m a true Gleek. We have just started the second part of Season 1 here in Ireland and it is just brilliant. The music is on loop here in the Foodie Household. Marie (7) absolutely loves it and I think it’s a great opportunity for her to discover music from a different era too. Love it!

I can’t wait to watch Glee! I haven’t seen any of it on TV because I knew I’d become a gleek and the best way to fulfill that craving is too watch it all at once.
