Kreativ Blogger Award – Seven things you might not know about me…

by on April 4, 2010

Linda 49% Jones, blogger extraordinaire, mental health awareness campaigner and clever jouro type, has tagged me in the Kreativ Blogger Award. The Meme requires me to over share seven things that you don’t know about me.

Hmmmmm, something tells me this isn’t going to be easy. Where shall I begin….

1. I’m in my mid 30′s and cannot drive. Never had a single lesson! We grew up without a car so I never felt compelled to learn, and now typically I can’t afford to. What’s more, neither of my brothers can drive either. I prefer to think of myself as chauffeur driven….

2. I don’t know what  brand my washing machine is, I couldn’t even tell you what the thing looked like. When we moved into our house, 10 years ago, we had the washing machine plumbed into the cellar. I hate cellars, so being the fool valiant chap he is, the husband offered to do the washing. Ten years down the line and he’s still doing it, and in all that time I’ve not done a single load of washing. Not one. Never. Muahahahahahahaaaaaa!

3. In a moment of sheer madness during a particularly tight month, when I was at university I worked at McDonalds. I lasted two weeks before I told them where to shove their Big Mac.

4. I once went temporarily blind in my left eye.  At the hospital the doctor put a patch over my right eye and asked me to read the letters on the chart on the wall. When I responded, “Where’s the wall?” I think they realised something was not quite right. After a hospital stay, CT scan, lumbar puncture, blood tests and lots of eye examinations, it was discovered I had Optic Neuritis. Thankfully my vision returned after about a month.

5. I hate talking on the telephone. Don’t ask me why, because I have no idea! I’d much prefer to talk to someone face to face or in writing. Yes, I’m odd and I know it. It’s also another one of those strange idiosyncrasies that both my brothers have too!

6. I’ve worked for the same company my entire adult life. Working for a large company with many divisions has certainly had it’s advantages.

7.  Since having Little E my feet have grown half a size. Whilst this is a tad annoying as I have lots of hardly worn shoes, it’s also a blooming excellent excuse to buy more. All I need now is an endless supply of cash….

So, now I have to tag seven other unsuspecting bloggers. The rules are as follows:

  1. Copy the award to your blog.
  2. Insert a link to the person who nominated you.
  3. Share seven things about yourself that you haven’t told us before.
  4. Nominate seven other bloggers for the award.
  5. Link to their blogs.
  6. Tell the nominees about their award.

My victims shall henceforth be:

#5 – you’re not weird – I’m a bit like that, although when I *do* get talking on the phone, you can’t shut me up!!

I’m like that with my friend Sarn. We can talk for hours about nonsense! Ask me to phone a takeaway or the tax credits people and I break into a cold sweat!!

Lol at no 2 the washing machine. I did a similar thing with my husband and in 12.5 years of marriage I have never once done the vaccuming, that is his job. He delights in getting a new vaccum cleaner so over the years, to keep him doing the job, we have bought quite a few :D I love reading these memes, it’s a lovely way to get a peek at the person behind the blog:) Jen.

Yes, I can also relate to numbers 5 and 6. Since they have introduced an internal instant messaging and internal twitter system at work, I very rarely have to pick up the phone any more – one reason I am staying put!
