An Exhilarating Day in The Big City

by on June 9, 2010

There are days in my life where I feel invisible.

Days where I feel like the most mundane thing in the Great Land of Mundaneness. Simply coasting along from one moment to the next never noticed by anyone, and not making a difference to anything or anyone.

Then there are days like today.

Days where I step outside my comfort zone, get on a train to London and meet people I’ve up ’til now only met online, and who turned out to be abso-blooming-lutely lovely.

Days like today, where we were transported via a silver sofa, into a somewhat unfamiliar world, and spoke to a room full of clever PR types at 3 Monkeys. PR types who were interested in what we had to say and in return are very kindly donating £100 each to mine and Jo’s JustGiving pages for Hadrian’s Walk.

I don’t feel so small today. It has been exhilarating and brilliant fun. The adrenaline was pumping and I felt alive, for once in my life, confident with just being me.

It felt good!

Today was a great day!

Well, for me anyway. If only Big E hadn’t woken up covered head to toe in chicken pox it would’ve been damn near perfect!

You can’t have it all, I guess.

ah chickenpox… i took my nephew to the park with his array of scabs (he was five days-post rash…it was safe!) and the park emptied as parents ushered their children away from the nasty pox boy. He had free reign of the park and loved it! And I got to sit on the normally-full-to-bursting bench….

I’m very much a meet up online kind, terribly unsociable I’m afraid. I do admire you for meeting up with bloggers, I would like to do it but I’m not sure I could.

You could have written those first two paragraphs for me! I feel like that some days too. :(

Sounds like you had a great time. Fantastic.

As for chicken pox…yep – I had that in 2000 at the ripe old age of 30. Not fun. I remember thinking at the time that if it’s hard for me not to scratch, then imagine what it’s like for kids?!

I saw your tweet this morn about worrying about scarring. If that happens, get some Bio Oil and put on twice daily and that should help the scarring. Being a kid – should heal quite well. I have a scar on my arm from chicken pox!

It does feel good to step outside of your comfort zone doesnt it! I’ve vowed to start doing it more, not planning on sky diving or anything but want to have more ‘adventures’ lol

Oh blast! I bought a shirt the other day but didn’t realise you had your own JustGiving page. I’m quite envious and very proud of you for doing the walk.
Walking Hadrian’s Wall is a goal for my 50th so I’ll be anxious to read about your adventure. Best of luck!

Ouch, Chicken Pox. I’m leaving immediately before I catch it.
