Decadent Lazy Sunday Afternoon Perfection

With the husband working crazy, unpredictable shifts, me working part time, and the children in nursery it’s not often that we get to spend real quality time together as a family. We seem to rush around trying to fit as much as we can into a short few minutes before bedtime and I’m often left feeling bereft and disappointed that we don’t have more time.

So, on the rare occasion we’re all in the same place at the same time, we take that much needed opportunity to be together. We like to keep it simple. Nothing too strenuous or expensive. Just good, simple family time. Lazy days, a picnic and maybe a walk.

After joining the National Trust earlier in the year, this Sunday we took ourselves off to one of their properties, Nostell Priory in Wakefield.

The weather was just perfect. Sunny, but not too hot, with a lovely breeze. A perfect late summer afternoon. We picnicked on sandwiches and Bakewell tarts on a blanket on the lawn by the stables. Little E had her first walk outside and danced away on the grass, while being serenaded by a trio playing old style jazz songs. Dragonflies whooshed overhead.

Big E had a kick about with a football with his daddy, while Little E and I people watched as she giggled at passers by and charming them along the way!

There was no rushing to be somewhere, no stress, no fuss just wonderful decadent lazy Sunday afternoon perfection.
