We all have jobs that we hate.
You know, those household chores that tip you to the edge of sanity? Well, for me that task is ironing. Lucky for me, I have someone to do it for me!
Noooooo, I don’t pay anyone! My husband does it, along with all the laundry. Yes, you did read that correctly.
When Philips contacted me and asked me if I’d like my husband to trial their new Man Iron (styled like a space ship, designed to appeal to the masculine market, to perhaps encourage more of our less chore minded men to do the ironing), while I relaxed with a pamper kit, I had to chuckle. So, while I languished lazily in a hot bubble bath, book and cuppa in hand, the husband got to work testing his new toy.
His top 5 ‘likes’ are:
- The iron glides effortless over garments. I was smooth to use and removed creases without having to exert much effort.
- The iron is lightweight, but has the sturdy feel of a much heavier one.
- The Man Iron heats up quickly, and is ready to use in no time at all.
- The settings are simple, no fussing about with digital displays, just turn the dial for heat and slide the button for steam. It’s practically idiot proof!
- The cord is designed to wrap neatly, without touching the plate, for safe storage.
What do I think of the Man Iron? I couldn’t tell you, I’ve never used it….

A man iron? Fantastic!
Now let’s hope that Phillips start making a pink hammer – you know, so women are able to do DIY!
Sexist bullshit that belongs back in the 80s (not you, them)
Speak your mind Mr Hughes…..LOL!
I knew this one’d get your goat.
I’m in charge of ironing, it does mean I get control of the remote for however long it takes and can also milk what a tough job it is! Can’t see blokes dashing down to Currys, ignoring the latest IPad and going to play with this. Now maybe if there was an I-ron we’d be on to something!
I suspect you’re right Pete!
The packaging refers to it as the ‘Azur’, not a mention of ‘Man Iron’ in sight.
I do the ironing in our house and i damn well want one of these.
To be honest it’s a bit like the purple and pink irons you can buy- so you feel more female whilst you are ironing. Of course i do the ironing in our house: I don’t need a purple iron to encourage me: the way DH irons is enough to make me ban him forever….
(that’s my entry by the way)

Oh my, this is perfect, I always insist that irons are hot and dangerous objects so should only ever be used by men! I do not iron. My partner claims not to know how to iron but I think he could learn with a man iron, I just need to sell it to him right. A spaceship styled iron could appeal to his not-so-inner geek.

I do iron but my OH does most of it!! But he goes through irons like hot dinners!! Once the steam goes he has to buy a new one!! He would definitely put this one to the test LOL

I tend to do the ironing but my husband does have a go. Our present iron has a short and tang,ed flex and exudes a brown gunk from time to time! A new iron ” iron man style or man iron” would be fantastic!
Me… well, most of the time. If we won one of these we’d have a ‘his and hers’ iron. Oh, and tell Dan my wife DOES have a hammer. But it isn’t pink.
Oooh, I’d love to win this!
I do all the ironing in our house, but maybe with the macho look of this, i could tempt my OH…..
Whoops. Meant to add that I have tweeted too (@jordanfleet)
My husband does the ironing here! lol, he likes it so long as he can watch one of his TV shows, so I don’t mind giving in! Although he has ruined my iron when he ironed a felt lining on Miss C’s PJs so now the plate is burned! So could really do with a new one
Thanks for the giveaway!
I do the ironing in our house. Hubby takes half an hour to do just one shirt and moans so it’s easier if I get it done! Give him his due though – he does his fair share of the other chores!
I do all the ironing (I wouldn’t trust my husband)

I love how it’s taken this long for an iron to come out specifically targeted at men… so close to valentines day aswell
I know what I’ll be buying lol!
