A Carnival of Parties! – Post Request

by Ellie on November 2, 2009

Parties. Love them or hate them, when you have children you can’t avoid them.

From christenings and naming ceremonies to birthdays, Easter, Halloween, Bonfire Night and Christmas. As a parent you’ll probably host a fair few celebrations for your kids throughout their childhood and beyond.

Big E’s 3rd birthday is looming and I’m currently trying to sort out his little soiree. It’ll be nothing flash. Just a small do at home. Friends in the morning then family in the afternoon. Yet, in spite of my insisting it’s a ’small do’ I’ve spent the entire last week mulling over what food we should have, how many cakes I’ll bake, should we have a theme, do we need party bags etc etc ad nauseum.

Now, I’m no expert party planner, but I do enjoy searching the internet for ideas, which in turn lead me to decide to host (drum roll please)……..

‘A Carnival of Parties’

I’d like to read all your children’s party related posts whatever the occasion may be. You can send an archived post or write a brand new one if that takes your fancy. Some ideas for themes are:

* Hosting the perfect party on a budget.
* Themed parties for boys or girls.
* Child friendly party recipes.
* Perfect party bags.
* Party cake ideas.
* Party gift ideas for children.
* The story of your child’s birthday/halloween/christening etc party.
* Party disasters.
* Children’s party games.

Really anything goes as long as it’s children’s party related. Send a link to your post to me by midnight Monday 9th November 2009 either by email to insomniacmummy(at)live(dot)co(dot)uk or leave a link in the comments. The Carnival will go live on Thursday 12th November 2009.

If you want to grab the button to add to your post that would be most excellent.

So, spread the word and I shall look forward to reading all your stories and ideas!

If you want to avoid the usual bin bags full of birthday gifts post party you could try http://www.partiesaroundtheworld.co.uk – works a bit like just giving and let's guests donate an (anonymous) amount to a child-friendly charity of your choosing. Depends on your guests though I guess and whether they'd be up for it?

With a birthday in December and another in January, we're just about to hit the party season chez Dotterel. I'm going to read the carnival for tips!

What a lovely idea. I'll see if I can think of anything in time. If not, I'll certainly come back to read.

my advise is : don't do it! The 3rd birthday party was the last at the house and I swore I would never do it again. Hire hall and bouncy castle party, hire hall and kids entertainer party, Wacky Warehouse, swim party, roller party, bowling party, anywhere that takes the mess and the stress party – and they work out cheaper in the long run!!!

I do love you idea for getting ideas and I will mail some and I really look forward to reading the others.
